Tibet Overland Tour and Trek (Drive In/Fly Out or vice versa)
Itinerary Details
Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu airport and transfer to hotel.Day 02: Sight-seing in Kathmandu valley(Bodnath, Swayambhu. Kathmandu D.S….)
Day 03: KATHMANDU - ZHANGMU (2300 M) -123 KM.:- Early morning drive from Kathmandu to Kodari (Approx. 6 hrs.) After doing immigration and custom formalities drive (Approx. 35 minutes) to Zhangmu. Overnight in ZHANGMU.
Day 04: ZHANGMU - XEGAR (4350 M) - 244 KM. Drive (Approx 8 hrs) to Xegar crossing NYALMU (3800 m) and LALUNG LA (5050 M) Pass. This drive offers fantastic view of the high mountains including Mount Everest (8848 m) on a clear weather day. Overnight in XEGAR.
Day 05: XEGAR - XIGASTE (3900 M) - 244 KM. Drive (Approx 8 hrs) to reach Xigatse, the place of famous Tashilumpo Monastery and seat of Panchen Lama until his death in 1989 with its huge Thangka wall which is clearly visible on the north side of road. Overnight in XIGATSE.
Day 06: XIGASTE - GYANTSE (3950 M) - 90 KM. In the morning visit Tashilumpo Monastery and the free market of Xigaste. Later in the afternoon, prepare for 2 hrs. drive to Gyantse. Here you visit Khumbum Stupa and Phalkor Monastery. Overnight in GYANTSE.
Day 07: GYANTSE - LHASA (3650 M) - 259 KM. Drive (Approx 8 hrs) via Yamdruk Tso (Turquoise Lake) and crossing two spectaculars passes KARO LA (5010 m) and KAMBA LA (4794 m) to reach Lhasa.
Day 08-09: TWO DAYS IN LHASA. Sightseeing tour of Potala palace, Norbulingka Palace, Jokhang Temple, Drepung Monastery and Barkhor Bazaar.
Day 10: LHASA - KATHMANDU FLIGHT. Transfer to Gonggar Airport takes about 2 hrs. The flight duration is 1 hr and 10 min. and it is one of the most beautiful flights in the world. On your flight you shall see The Yarlung Tsangpo River, Lake Yamdruk, Kanchanjunga (8586 m) and Mt. Everest (8848 m).
Day 11: Transfer to international airport………
